About
Hi Everyone,
My name is Rebekah Antoine.
Throughout my time at Florida International University (FIU), I have participated in many different programs and held multiple leadership positions. This site is a digital portfolio of my process throughout my Global Learning Experience.
I am a mother of two, a wife, a three times AmeriCorps member, the 2013-2014 President of the Haitian Student Organization (HSO FIU) and an alumna of Florida International University and soon to be alumna of Northeastern University (NEU). I graduated from FIU with Bachelors in Biology, Psychology and Interdisciplinary Studies with minors in Nutrition & Spanish and certificates in Women’s Studies & Latin American and Caribbean studies. I will graduate from NEU with my Masters in Nonprofit Management with a concentration in project management.
As a Worlds Ahead student, I expanded my desire for positive change by serving on the executive board of the Haitian Student Organization (HSO FIU). During my presidency, I accomplished my vision of its leadership and membership of becoming active global citizens in their communities through service, mentorship and advocacy. I envisioned the organization’s leadership and members to prioritize community service and community involvement. We became a student-led movement focused on positively impacting our communities locally and abroad. As president, I led a group of 12 college students on a service trip to Haiti with Win Win Global and another group on a service trip to Dominican Republic with Alternative Breaks. My current involvement with HSOs includes helping plan leadership retreats and conference for young Haitian Students through United Haitian Students of Florida and National Haitian Student Alliance.
My academic goals are to obtain My Master’s in Public Health, Midwifery certification and Doctor of Medicine. My own birth experiences and love for women's health compelled me to currently pursue certifications related to maternal and child health. Rebekah will expand my doula services with Nature et Vie: Family Services to open family/birthing centers in South Florida and Haiti. I am also planning to create a nonprofit organization that focuses on closing the health and education disparity gaps while using community service to retain, develop and grow Haitian communities.
